[English]

The political developments that took place in the Arab world from 2011 did not end with the establishment of democratic regimes in the region, but led to the emergence and expansion of Salafist-Takfiri groups. These groups emerged from the north and the Horn of Africa to Central Asia in the region and committed terrorist acts. Given the fact that Syria and Iraq were at the center of these terrorist crises, the threats of the Salafist-Takfirist groups became more visible to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Therefore, the Islamic Republic of Iran, by taking measures and political and military policies, tried to eliminate these threats, thus preventing the collapse of the resistance rings in the region. This research seeks to answer the main question of how ISIS was formed and what was Iran›s role as opposed to it? Further, it is suggested that ISIS did not conform to the facts of the field and the public opinion of the region, including Iran, due to the fact that it was an Arab-Hebrew-Wahhabi process, which created a coalition of resistance to Iran›s leadership. Ultimately, this mutual struggle led to the destruction of ISIL in the region. The article tries to explore the emergence of the ISIS phenomenon in Syria and Iraq as well as Iran›s role in defeating this terrorist group using the theoretical framework of defense realism.
